My mother had an obsession with frogs - ceramic, plastic, resin, expensive or cheap frogs. Frogs were all over her house and yard. When you stepped out of your car, you would be greeted by frogs from the walkway to the front door. Frogs surrounded the tree and blooming flowers. They lined the flower bed and adorned the porch. For those that dared to enter the house, frogs saluted them from the fireplace. It was froggy heaven.
I remember asking my mother about her obsession with frogs after taking her on a trip to the Dollar Store where she bought more frogs. Her demeanor changed as if she had been waiting for years for me to question her love for frogs. She stared out the car window for a moment then turned to me with a smile saying, “frogs bring peace and good energy.” I looked at her with a cocked head and said, “good energy, huh?” “Yep,” she said. In my mind I was like what in the world does Mama know about good energy? I had never heard her say anything about energy, good or bad, so what could she know? I didn’t ask any more questions. We just went on about our day. Now, years, after Mama has gone to her heavenly home, I’m learning that she knew more than I thought she knew.
The other day I was outside sweeping off my patio tuned into my thoughts. The sun was kissing my back, giving me the much needed Vitamin D that I needed as I swept away dirt and fallen mess from the pecan tree. As I picked up a bag of potting soil, I was greeted by an alien. Well, maybe not an alien, but that is exactly what it looked like to me. I jumped back and gasped, but for some reason I was not overly terrified. I pulled my phone from my back pocket to get a picture to prove to the world that an alien had taken over my backyard. It had horns. If those are not horns, oh well. LOL! Anywhoo, when I snapped the pic (I had to enlarge because I refused to get too close) I was able to see that it was a frog. A. FROG. My mama’s favorite animal to decorate with. A. FROG.
shared my picture with two cousins that said I should google “frog”. This is what I found on www.spiritanimal.info
It is said that the frog is symbolic of the cleansing. You can call on the frog spirit to support you in clearing negativity and “toxic” energies. The frog being associated with water, it may be a good spirit animal to call for emotional release.
Perhaps it indicates you need to “detoxify and take care of your health differently. Or it encourages you to release your emotions or carefully at how you spend your energy in relationship to others or some matters of concern in your life.
Cleansing might also mean that the frog spirit animal inspires you to renew your perspective or vision. If the frog shows up in your life as a spirit guide, it may encourage you to clear old opinions and beliefs to adopt a new stance or perspective.
Shut the front door! Mama was on point. She knew! After reading this I felt my good, sweet mama had come to visit me that day in the backyard. She wanted me to know she was with me. My backyard is my place to retreat when I want to clear my mind. That morning was one of those mornings. I was seeking some renewal and rejuvenation. Birds were chirping and my thoughts were about being in a good place. Things in my life had started to feel unbalanced. At times I was feeling like something was weighing me down.
I have never thought about spirit animals before in my life. I do know that God has a way of using anything to speak to us. I believe, on this particular day, the frog was placed there just for me as a reminder for me to renew my mind and rely on God’s peace. I want to say my mother was saying to me, “Hey girl. Let it go.” Sometimes we have to be reminded to “Let it go.” We have to be reminded that now is time for a cleansing. Just like we have to change our HVAC filter every 30 days, we should take a break, to change the filter of our hearts, minds, and even words. You may have to change up your routine, and that is ok too. A cleansing is good. A cleansing is necessary.
As for me, I started back walking daily again. Walking is always refreshing for me. I hadn’t gone for a walk around the park since January because of the weather and COVID-19. After doing it for two days, I can feel the difference. I have also become more conscious of the times I pick up my phone. I’m attempting and getting better at shutting it off earlier to give me time to release from the day. I am cleansing!
I don’t know what is going on in your life but I want to encourage you to “Let it go.” Take some time to change your filter and cleanse; maybe grab a FROG! I promise you won’t regret it
